Darn those Google Memories

Image
Do you have Google Photos?  Ever wonder what memory they will bring to your attention next?  Some are good, others... well, read on to find out...  Do you ever have those moments where you are cruising along in life, busy, fighting the good fight, trying to keep up, and then BAM!  Google photos sends you a memory and you stop dead in your tracks... and have a good cry?  I think you all know I am a big dog lover.  I have had dogs my entire life, minus a few months where I was not sure I could be a dog mom again.  My last pup broke my heart when he passed... it was unexpected and I was a mess... The first time Google sent me a memory about my baby Brody, I cried and cried...  it was like a dagger in my heart.  Mr. Vintage was like what the heck is going on and I showed him and he said oh... ohhh... ohhhhh... He understood.  He knows my pups are my kryptonite.  Below you can find the video that started the water works... I was searching for a photo this weekend of a before and I saw my pu

An Upper Arlington home tour

Looking to get ideas from older homes?  Oh good, me too!  We love sharing older homes with all of their details and how they are decorated. All photos are sourced from Zillow .      So a thing happened... when I was searching for the perfect house to share with you this week, can you believe I could not find one in my chosen area.  I could not find a home that got me excited in Bexley...  this has never happened!  I was so disappointed.  If I cannot get excited about a home, then how can I write about it and share it with you?    Mr. Vintage said look in Dublin... I did, and you know what?  I could not find a home I was excited about there either.  They were all too new, all made over with new everything inside them.  Does no one keep old, original features anymore?  I was getting pretty disappointed and thinking I would need to expand my search. So then he suggested Upper Arlington... and just when I was ready to give up, I found her, a beautiful 1926 home.  Older homes are my passion

Searching for healthy meals the whole family will like?  We are sharing with you today a whole meal you can make in under an hour with easy ingredients.   Do you make the same thing over and over each week?  Sometimes I find myself getting into the same rut... it is not fun when dinner becomes so routine you do not even pay attention to the meal itself.   Am I the only one who does this?   Sometimes I find myself going through the motions of dinner... I have my go to's... they are so easy to make, no following of a recipe, it is done by the time my husband gets home and clean up is the last thing I have to worry about.  I feel like the quintessential 1950's housewife living in her 1950's house except I work all day too, besides quintessential would not describe me at all!  Who wants to juggle all the things we have to today, and make a three course dinner every night?  Not me... so I try to make it as easy as I can for myself, because clean up then follows... and I despise

How to paint a light fixture without taking it down

Image
Wanting to paint an existing light fixture?  Here we paint an existing fixture without taking it down.  I’ve been running myself ragged here of late. Working on the other house, doing projects here, keeping up with peanut, all while working my full time gig. It’s been a lot, but I’m hoping light is at the end of the tunnel, or at least the tunnel is shortening some. I have not had a lot of time for crafting, but I did have some time to make a quick change in the upstairs bath. The upstairs, for the most part was untouched, or so we think anyway.  In our opinion, the woman who owned the home prior to us purchased it, and was only interested in what her guests would see. We’ve wondered if the majority of the upstairs was original? We know wallpaper was changed up, we found some pieces of what we would assume was original wallpaper when we removed all of it in one of the bedrooms. Do you know one of the neighbors told us that she purchased the home, moved in, stayed one night, just one ni

Peanut and his ornery ways

Looking for stories about a pup who brings a lot of laughs to those he comes into contact with?  This pup makes our friends and family laugh, we are sure you will too!  This rascally kid has been pretty good... now I say that, but I can assure you he has not been perfect.  After we got back from working at the other house on Saturday, we were taking a break and chatting about what was next on our agenda. Just kicking back.  Yes, this is my couch...  Peanut comes trotting down the hallway and drops some leaves he found.  Of course, they were leaves I decorate with.  I had been working in the dining room one evening last week and either he jumped on the table and pulled them down, or he got into the box I store items in.  We have been so tired, things have not been getting put away right when I am working on something. Can you believe this stinker dropped the leaves, looked at me like, I dare you mom, just try and catch me.  Then he stood there and just looked at me, not moving an inch..

A lifetime in a day

Do you enjoy taking a trip down memory lane?  We will share with you a trip we took with my Grandmother where stories and memories were shared.    I was recently going through photos we have taken over the years... I came across pictures taken one day when we took my Grandma to land she and my Grandpa had a trailer on.   It was their summer place, along the Muskingum River located in Stockport, Ohio.  The Stockport Mill and Inn She is now 98, but when we went on this trip, she was in her early 90's.  She was able to tell us how to get there, all of the landmarks along the way, stories she recalled, and told us where she had stayed on her wedding night.  She commented it looked a lot different then than it does now.  I would expect so, 70 years later...  not as nice now as it was then.  I chuckled when she made that comment. Hotel  I have shared with you before, I love hearing others' stories... I always find them so fascinating.  I would sit for hours as a child listening to my
