Whimsy Home Wednesday No. 35

Welcome to the Whimsy Home Wednesday Link Party. Today we are sharing the chosen posts from Whimsy Home Wednesday No. 34.

10 things you may not know about me:

  1. I have always been shy, I was actually nominated most shy when I was younger.  Now some may not agree, and others would say, yep, that's Cara.
  2. I recall the first auction I attended as a youngster was with my grandparents.  My grandfather bought a Rubik's Cube for me that day so I guess I can attribute my love of auctions to my grandparents.
  3. I have always been a dog lover.  Since there were not many children in our neighborhood, my first best friend growing up was our yellow lab.
  4. I have a long list of odd allergies.
  5. Growing up, I wanted to be a mermaid and live in the water.  My sister and I could be found swimming for hours on end and would only get out of the pool when told very sternly it was time to go inside.
  6. I began making up my own recipes as a teenager, I think it is why it comes so naturally to me.
  7. Most of the time, I fly by the seat of my pants, it drives my husband crazy!
  8. My sister and I went on a vacation where nothing was planned, not even our hotel rooms until the morning of.  We thoroughly enjoyed the trip seeing where the road would take us all along the east coast.
  9. I love and collect vintage brooches and cameos, you can see below I enjoy wearing them too.
  10. Blogs were my guilty pleasure before I finally decided to take the plunge and begin my own.  Vintage decor and DIY's were always the main attractions for me.

Whimsical Home Projects From Our Features

Congratulations to the featured posts of Whimsy Home Wednesday! I enjoy being able to visit each post to see what other's are up to around the web. This week wasn't any different than any other week for me. So difficult to make a decision on just one post.

This week I chose to feature Lisa with Fresh Vintage by Lisa S., Easy 4th of July Wreath.  You will be amazed how she created this wreath with her chosen material.  I thought oh, how clever!  I wish I had the necessary items on hand so I could recreate her lovely wreath myself!  You won't want to miss this awesome makeover that is for sure!

  2. Cara,
First, I want to thank you for always stopping by to visit and for your very sweet comments....I am so happy that you enjoyed hearing about why and how I created my own little Victorian Bed and Breakfast because I can not travel...With my health issues which includes IBS, it is very hard for me to go anywhere and to eat out in public and traveling would just be a nightmare for me...Luckily, we did quite a bit of traveling when my sons were young so I am good without doing so at this stage of my life...It is funny though how many people ask me about traveling since we are retired and are shocked when I said that we will not be doing so...I actruallu get a kick out of telling them that...LOL!
    Happy Summer Solstice!!
Thanks again for hosting this charming party every week! I know how much time goes into doing so and I want you to know that it I truly appreciate it!! I hope you have a great week!

  6. So much fun to learn more about you Cara! I would be totally panicked if I had to take a trip without any plans - that is such a bold move - and something my sisters would do too. I love that your first BFF was a lab. I tell ya there's nothing like the unconditional love of a dog. Hugs and thank you for hosting, CoCo

    1. I agree whole heartedly CoCo, pups are what make this world spin if you ask me. They have a way of making us smile on the daily and expect very little in return. Of course, our pup is kind of spoiled and has a bit of a 'tude, but they can't all be perfect teehee! That trip was so much fun, I cannot say I am the best planner so it worked in our favor. My husband told me absolutely not would we ever do something like that together. Every yin needs their yang and he is mine!

    1. So happy to have you here MaryJo! You have amazing ideas and decor. Yep, a mermaid... I thought it was so peaceful under the water and I loved to swim. Oh, to be a kid again with that imagination! Thank you, I have to say, they are my new favorite thing to craft with. Beware, I have another one coming soon! I tend to get on a kick and can't seem to stop myself!

  11. Thanks for sharing about your life! I enjoy getting to know about my blogging friends, it seems like we always have so much in common! I'm always a bit envious of people who can go on vacation without planning! I plan way too much, maybe one of these days I'll do something totally last minute, lol!! Have a wonderful week!

    1. I like to get to know other bloggers too, you are right, you find so many things in common with each other. I think my unplanning vacation days are over, my husband would be nuts if I tried to do it with him. He likes to plan and know what he is doing each day. Just do it, you may find it freeing. Have a great week!
