Easy Cubed Steak Recipe

Searching easy cubed steak recipe?  We are sharing our easy cubed steak recipe with you today.

Easy cubed steak and gravy recipe is one to save to your recipe box.  This easy cube steak recipe with cream of mushroom soup is one I will be saving to make again and again.

Have you ever made cubed steak?  I can honestly say I have never made it until the other night.  My husband made a request when I was ordering groceries and had asked for cubed steak so I added it to my online cart and thought oh goodie, another new recipe.  Since I had never made it, I kept putting it off.  That is, until he special requested it for dinner.

I have mentioned before he does not often make a special request, so I do try to appease him when I can.  LOL  I had taken steak out, but then I receive a text asking for cubed steak.  I ignored the text, and went upstairs, put the steak back in the freezer, and pulled the cube steak out.  Hey, he can enjoy a surprise when he gets home was what I was thinking.

I spoke with my mother earlier in the day and told her about hubby's special request.  She asked have you ever made that?  Nope, and nope... she says oh, it's so easy, and then goes into about a million step process in how to make cubed steak.

Love her to pieces, but I am not the cook or baker she is.  We do things the Cara way around here, and dinner prep is quick, recipes are easy, whatever I need to do to get it done, cleaned up, and moving on to the next thing.  Yes, I am not one to sit around much, I am always working on something.

Here recently, I am all about Christmas so I can share with you projects that are so easy on the purse strings and make your home feel like a winter wonderland, as the way I enjoy Christmas... who has time for a dinner that takes all night to make?  Not this gal that is for sure.

My mother mentioned something about milk and mixing it with the drippings and making my own gravy... and I thought oh good, cream of mushroom soup it is.  When she mentioned mixing the milk, I thought oh no, no milk here, only almond milk, so I decided sour cream would do just fine.  If you have never made certain things with almond milk, you would not know, but it does not always play nice with some recipes as your regular ole milk does.  Yep, learning lessons all around here when I am in the kitchen.

My grandmother asked me the other day, don't you ever worry about something not turning out since you are not following a recipe and making up your own?  I thought about it for a second and replied that I do not worry about it, how else will I learn if I am not making mistakes too?

She gave me a coy smile and said yeah, I guess... you younger generation never worry about making mistakes.  Then I laughed.... because I do worry about making mistakes, just not ones concerning dinner.  I am more worried about the big life mistakes.  Gotta love grandma, if you are new here, she just turned 100 this month.  You can read all about Rosezella if you like, she is an ornery one that is for sure.

This easy cubed steak recipe turned out great, my husband said it tasted just like his mother's, and he went into about making the gravy with the drippings and asked if I did that.  I just chuckled and said so glad you like it, and I am glad it tastes like your mom's.  No one but us needs to know I took the easy road to cubed steak.  Now you can too.

Don't worry, I am sure there are other recipes out there like mine, I do not think I am the most inventive person when it comes to dinner, but I get by with what I have learned and have available in the kitchen.

I do ok, but there is so much more for me to learn.  I love that some of you really get into the learning process right along side of me.  It is so much nicer when you get to learn together.  I do not use fancy ingredients or enjoy preparing something that takes a lot of time, but I do enjoy homecooked meals we have prepared ourselves.  Anyone else feel eating out has lost it's appeal?

Some questions you may have about cubed steak:

Is cubed steak pork?
  • I have seen where you can purchased pork cubed steak; however, I purchased beef cubed steak for this dinner.  I would imagine you could make the same recipe with pork cubed steak.  It has been my experience when cooking with pork, it needs more flavoring than beef though.  This dish thankfully had flavor in spades.

Is cubed steak expensive?
  •  No, cubed steak is an inexpensive cut of meat.  I picked up four cubed steak patties for about $8.00 total.
  • Pork cubed steak is even more affordable, coming in around $6.00 for a pack of four patties.

Where can I find cube steak?
  • You can find cubed steak at your local butcher, or any supermarket.  I picked up our package with my regular grocery order.

Is cube steak tough?
  • It depends on how cubed steak is made.  I began with them in the skillet, and then moved them to the oven to bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.  I think the baking is what makes them tender.

What else is cube steak called?
  • You may hear it called cubed steak or also minute steak.

If you have any other questions, please ask away.  This is a gluten free friendly meal, but can easily be made for gluten tolerant folks as well.  Just switch out the cream of mushroom soup.  No need to purchase gluten free unless you need to.  We hope you enjoy your week, and Happy Halloween!  I nearly missed it.  👻
