Making Christmas Presents...

My husband and I made these last year for Christmas presents to give to friends and family.  We made them out of pallets!  Tearing apart the pallets is very gratifying.  Ha!  We tore the pallets apart, sanded down the wood, cut to size, used wood biscuits and glue to join the panels together.  Let dry, stain, dry again, then stencil whatever you would like on it.

The waiting while they dry is not my favorite part!  I am kind of impatient when I have to wait for things to dry.  The stain has to dry for a day or two before you paint the stencil on.  Trust me, you will want to wait.  I made that mistake once and decided I can wait.  I did purchase picture hangers from Amazon so they were ready to go to be hung when we gave them.

I purchased my stencil from Stencil Revolution.  I looked to see if they had the same stencil as last year, but it does not look like they are carrying it now. Here is a link to the one I used and at $12.99, how can you go wrong for multiple gifts?

Do you ever make homemade gifts to give?  I feel like we all have everything we need at our age so I enjoy making things for others now.  Friends and family seem to like the homemade items and display them in their homes.
