Vintage Style Gal's Top 10 posts

Wondering what our top 10 posts for Vintage Style Gal are?  We were too, and we are sharing them with you today!

Today I am sharing with you my top 10 posts ever!  How exciting to get to revisit some oldies, but goodies, huh?

I know, I was actually surprised when I went through our posts, all 405 of them might I add... wow!  Can you believe there were that many?  I know I was!

I remember that first post I wrote and kept talking myself out of actually hitting that publish button.  It was like a large red button saying if you push this, things will change forever... do not push, do not proceed, do not pass go... BEEP... BEEP... BEEP.... STOP!!!

Oh, I came up with a million reasons why I shouldn't push PUBLISH.  What if no one reads it?  What if no one is interested?  What if people are not so nice?  How will I ever come up with things to write about?  Do I want to share our home?  Our home is not like some bloggers... they have perfect homes.  Our home is a work in progress... will I have enough projects around my house to share?

Well, apparently I have a lot to say, and projects have been plentiful around here, and honestly I mostly work with what I already have here around our home. Some days I amaze myself.  Ha!  You know the best part?  You do not need a perfect home to write about or share with others.  We are real people, and I found folks like real homes, and real projects, and apparently as you see, real recipes too.  Well, let's get to it!

Our Spicy Chicken Thighs with Honey is Number 10 on our list of reader favorites.  I can tell you those are so yummy so I can understand why they are a reader favorite.

If you have never tried them, I highly suggest you give them a try.  New Years anyone?  So many folks reached out and said they loved them!  Thank you for reaching out!

Number 9.... how we added privacy to our front door with a little inspiration from the searching for sale home listings.  You just never know where inspiration will strike!

I get some really good ideas from homes that are on the market, for one, they are real homes, people live there, it is not an unattainable mansion that I know I will never live in... so I enjoy looking at your regular Joe homes.  You never know what inspiration you will find when looking at homes for sale.  I also save the pictures so I have a reference point when I am ready for a project.

Number 8... our recipe for Honey Mustard Chicken with Curry.  Wow, this is an excellent and so easy recipe.  I promise you will not be disappointed if you give these a try!  They were a big hit in our home, and we enjoy having this recipe every so often.

Number 7
... Kitchen Updates... this was something we completed way before I began blogging, but I really enjoyed sharing this project with you all.

I began roughly documenting the progress on our home so I did have some photos to share with you of the process of ripping out and building the new cabinet.  This plate rack removal was a game changer for us because the cabinet that was put in it's place has so much storage.  If we did not have it, I would be lost.

Number 6... How to DIY Sea Glass.  Oh, I love this vase, and it was so easy to DIY!  Vases are kind of a thing for me.  I have so many of them, and I enjoy creating new projects with them all of the time.  Head to the thrift store and pick up a few and see what you can create.  You will be amazed.

Number 5... How to decoupage a vase.  What did I tell you about me and vases?  We have a thing going... they are such a small thing and so budget friendly, but they make a big impact in a room.

See, I feel like I am a broken record sometimes, but you do not need to spend a lot of money on your home to get the looks you love.  A thrifted vase and Mod Podge will get you far in life, or decoration at least.  😉

Number 4... No Sugar No Flour Banana Bread!  Oh my goodness, I love this recipe, and so many folks agree with me too.  Even hubby loved it.

Growing up my mother and grandmother would make banana bread, I recall them putting walnuts in theirs, but I am just not a lover of nuts in my breads so I omitted them, but you can certainly add them if you want.

Number 3... Easy Mexican Skillet.  Wow, I was so surprised by this one.  There are so many gluten free folks out there.  I can certainly identify with those who get a diagnosis and then wonder where they start?

That was me when I found I was allergic to wheat, barley, and rye.  So, I am hoping to help those who need a little help in getting started and sharing my creations so that you know you are not alone when it comes to needing a gluten free lifestyle.  It makes my heart go pitter patter when I am able to help someone with dinner options.

My favorite story was a lady who wrote to me and said her son had been recently diagnosed with celiac disease, and so she was skimming the internet trying to find recipes for him so she could share them with him.  He had no idea where to begin.  It made my heart full knowing I was able to help her with some of my recipe shares.

Number 2... our lovely backsplash makeover that we completed on a $15.00 budget!  I get crazy ideas every once in a while, and some of you may wonder what is this gal up to now?  This would be one of those shares!

You know what though?  I love this backsplash still to this day, and it is still going strong.  I am so sorry to say it will probably not be there when we get busy on this kitchen remodel since we will need to move some appliances around our kitchen, but I am thinking up ideas on how to still incorporate a nod to this lovely backsplash when the kitchen is completed.

Our backsplash was the project I loved most when it comes to the bang for our buck.  So little money and time went into that little update.  I still smile when I walk into our kitchen knowing a bit of my style is in the kitchen, even when I am surrounded by 1980 something all around me.  That countertop better hurry up and get here is all I have to say so we can begin figuring out how this kitchen will begin it's new life.

And drum roll please..... Number 1 of all times is our Meatloaf Recipe Gravy.  I was stunned, I was shocked... I know I need to pay closer attention to these things, but it looks like my recipes really make an impact with y'all.  I thank you for that since I never thought I would be sharing my made up recipes.

I began creating recipes when I was 15.  A stay at home became a working mom, and that meant I was next in line to figure out dinner for our family.  Of course, if you have read about me at a young age, you know I was no stranger to the kitchen, but I could certainly never apply to be on Masterchef Junior at that age either.  I mean those children, whew!  They are little masterminds, me?  I liked to dabble in the cookies, and when I say that, I mean eat the dough and make messes.

Yep, bad girl here, eating raw dough, but who knew back then it was bad for us?  Ok, maybe I remember something about it, but I was a kid, like 3-4 years old, I did what kids do, that is why I would sneak a bite here and there when no one was looking.

I thank you for showing up everyday, reading our blog, and keeping me going and motivated to keep creating new recipes, new projects and crafts, and decorating.  This past year was a doozie, and there have been so many days I really did not feel like it because I didn't feel very good, but I got up and said you can do this, and you know what?  I did... I have even surprised myself with this blogging venture.

Being a quiet, and more reserved person, I never thought I would be putting my life experiences out there for the world to see, but guess what?  It is really not that scary.  You have been gracious enough to read along with me, chuckle when things do not go exactly to plan, and support me in this thing we call life.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and oh, Bentley thanks you too.  We cannot forget him, stinker that he is.  My husband probably isn't as thankful since we make more work for him with the big projects, but he also knows I needed something to get me out of my funk, and this blog has done just that.

Happy New Years!  We hope you bring in the new year with a bang, be safe, and don't forgot to stop and smell the flowers in life, I think we all need that reminder from time to time, and just remember...

    1. Thank you Dee. I was surprised by some of our reader favorites, but I guess it goes to show you that you do not need to spend a lot of money in order to make the home you want too. I love low cost projects where I can add a bit of my personality in.
