Craft ideas for scrapbook paper

Searching craft ideas for scrapbook paper?    Here we show you how to make scrapbooking items into art.

If you are wondering how to make scrapbooking items into art work then we have just the post for you.  Art scrapbook ideas are very easy to create.  Vintage scrapbook materials are my favorite though.

Once upon a time, in my single gal days, I enjoyed making art and hanging it all over my home.  Most people used their scrapbooking pieces for just that, scrapbooking, but me?  I never scrapbooked, yet I was always picking up items for it that I found interesting.

If you were a scrapbooker then you know all the different scrapbook paper that is available and how exquisite many of the pages were/are!  I was addicted, hook, line, and sinker.  Although I never used the paper in the way it was intended for, that does not mean I did not find my own creative ways to make art with scrapbook paper.

I would pick up printed words as you see above and throughout this post, and flowers, and doorknockers, and whatever other embellishments I could get my hands on.  I picked up scissors, and trimmers, and cutters, and ink, and stamps, all in the hopes of creating those precious works of art.

I would take those scrapbook inspired pictures and hang them on my walls, or display them on end tables, dressers, in the bathroom on the countertop.  Just wherever I could find space I would fill it all up with my creations.

In case you have left over items from scrapbooking or come across scrapbooking materials while shopping, I have a few ideas to share with you.

I really am taking this home by storm and going through the basement and attic and making over items we already have here.  I will leave you with this one thought before I move on to sharing.  At the end of the day, does it matter if you live in a large home, have a lot of material items, or have the best of everything?  I have had a lot of time on my hands to ponder many things lately, and in my opinion, it really doesn't.  Okay, I will stand down from my soapbox, but just know there will be more to come on this topic.  I have a lot to say...

As I have been going through the basement and attic, I have been finding things I did not even remember having.  It has been a lot of fun reminiscing, but I have found a lot of items from the past that do not exactly match my tastes now.  No problem, paint can update things lickety split!  If paint will not fix an item not all hope is lost, give it a makeover in a new way.

I have been giving a lot of items makeovers here lately which brings me to these three pictures I made.  Gosh, I am not even sure when I made them, just know it was a long time ago, ages ago really.

Back then, I did not even have to hang them up or keep them for myself, I just enjoyed making items like this and giving them away.  It was my creative outlet at the time.  Trust me, I needed that creative outlet with the work I was doing day in and day out, but I loved coming home at the end of my work day and getting busy making whatever came to mind.

Maybe you have seen items like this before, but I thought it was worth a share since you may be sitting on top of a goldmine of scrapbooking goods and wondering what in the world will I do with all of these materials?

You do not need a lot of time to create scrapbook art like I know some folks spent on their scrapbook pages in the past.  Just take stock of what you have and create something with the pieces by making the art your own.  With Christmas around the corner, create a lot of somethings and give them as gifts.  I love getting homemade gifts.  Gifts from the heart mean more to me than something that did not take much thought to purchase.  I am sure if you ask family members they may agree.

One year I made all of the gifts I gave for Christmas and my family loved each item they received.  That was a year I was especially hitting the crafting table hard.  Some people drink, I craft and decorate.  No judgement here, whatever gets you through one day to the next one is my motto.  **wink, wink**

These black frames will be used again in a bedroom I am currently working on.  Do you know our bedroom stays the same, but our spare bedroom has gone through several makeovers?  I am thinking this last one is the last one though.  So many ideas are flitting around my mind.  I am just hoping not too many.  I tend to get stuck when that happens.

There was a time when we thought we would adopt so we ran right out and purchased a changing table, baby bed, and everything you need for a little one.  I changed the bedroom to reflect having a little one with mint green and gray colors which I loved, but now it is time for something new.

In Cara fashion, I will be making over a lot of items for this new spare bedroom look.  I am actually quite excited to share it once it is completed.  I just hope my vision coincides with what the final stage looks like.  No pressure Cara... do you know how nerve-racking it is to tell everyone you will be sharing a new look for a room when you are not even finished?

I always worry what if it does not turn out?  What if it takes me longer than I anticipate?  What if I bomb?  Ahh well, every experience we go through in life is a learning experience so this one will be no different than any other one.  As long as I am happy with it, that is all should matter, right?

Here are just three pictures I created from the past.  Talk about having past Cara wave and say hello to present Cara... I actually still like these pictures, and their words are very inspiring, but they will not go with the look of the room so I will save them for another day.  Did you know you can save old art work behind new?  I do it all of the time so I do not need to find storage for the old pieces.

Someone recently asked if I was selling items I work on?  The answer to the question is no, but if there is an interest then I may consider it.  I just really enjoy working on things around my home and sharing ideas with others to inspire you to make your home the place you love most.

I get this honest from my mother.  I can recall a time when I was in grade school and we would come home from school and our bedrooms would be completely made over into new rooms.  She was the master of moving furniture around and moving pictures around creating new looks every few months.

Some days it was like an adventure, you never knew what you would come home from school to.  I especially loved those times, surprises are my favorite, as long as they are of the good surprise variety of course.

Did you get any new ideas today for your home?  We sure hope so!  Honestly that is my favorite part of blogging.  I love it when you share your projects with us and ask questions.  Like I shared in one of our newer posts, just let your imagination be your guide and you never know what you will be able to create. Remember, the sky is the limit!

If you enjoyed this post and would like to see more, please let us know.  As we go through our mess, ha, ha... I am sure we will locate more pictures I worked on years ago.  I may even hang a few in our home.  As I recall, there were a few favorites I loved, and I think I would like to see them on the wall again.

If you do not have scrapbooking paper or embellishments already in your stash, you can find some ideas below.  We like to think we found some really good ones to share with you.
