Peanut's long weekend

Wanting to read some uplifting stories about a pooch?  We have one peanut who loves to share his life with everyone he comes into contact with.

Grr... come on dad, I wanna go...

Have you see the Amazon commercial where a man is running the sweeper and he runs the dog toy up in the sweeper?  Well, peanut here can be on the other side of the house and when he hears that darn sweeper?  He comes running and barks at the tv!  Every. Time. The. Commercial. Is. On... not one time can we make it through the commercial without him barking like a banshee, and he does not give up easily... the barking is loud and proud... this will go on for several minutes and when he finally settles down, it is time for the commercial to come back on.  Repeat... all over again...

We are unsure what triggers this response from him.  It used to be every time he heard a doorbell ring on a commercial, now it is the sweeper.  You know because I am me, I talk to him all of the time... I asked is it the sweeper, the running up of the toy, or the pooch on the commercial?  I am thinking it is because he is not all that fond of the sweeper.

Just lounging around

The other day when I got the sweeper out, he laid down in the hallway and watched me.  I kept working around the house on the first floor and then was ready to sweep the hallway and last room he was blocking.

Usually he will get up and run away, this time?  Nope, he laid there and as I got closer he looked at me like, nope, you ain't going any further there momma... I am comfortable and I am not moving.  I continued to get closer, and he looked at me with the most solemn look... I tried to go around him, but he just looked at me like nice try... then decided fine... I'll move, but I am not happy about it... I was able to clean, how nice of him to let me, huh?

Wait a second, I am getting tangled up!

He rules the roost around here, just ask him, he will tell you.  We work around him... he always wants to be in the thick of everything going on around here.  Mr. Vintage cleaned up the grill this past weekend while peanut sunbathed.  Oh yes, he sunbathes... and loves it!  He has also discovered he loves the grill now that he knows it produces food...

Tuesday morning when hubby left for work, peanut wanted to go outside.  He looked all over for daddy, but he was already gone... then he walked over to the grill like ahhh... I thought daddy was out here grilling and I was going to get something for breakfast... I said sorry buddy, he had to go to work...

He finally went and did his business... got his treat and ran upstairs... new thing... he takes his treats in bed now, the prince he is.  Oh yes, when he gets a treat, he runs upstairs immediately and gobbles his treat up in our bed... smack dab in the middle of our bed that is... he used to run around the tv room and rub the treat all over himself, but now treats must be eaten in bed, please kneel to the peanut... his majesty of this cozy cottage!

Oh, you think you are going to get me all wet?  I do not think so!

Where do these new things come from?  We have absolutely no idea!  He just changes up things and keeps us on our toes... we guess it is his way of keeping life interesting around here.  That he does...

He has been even more ornery here lately... recently when we go to bed, he will lay and bark and bark at hubby until he gets up.  If he gets up, he runs over to his spot and lays down quickly and is like, sorry Charlie, this spot it now mine, daddy, you will need to find a new spot to sleep in.

AND... he started taking multiple balls to bed with us... on purpose, he will hit the ball and knock it off, then bark his head off.  This is another ploy to get Mr. Vintage's spot in bed... I am telling you, he is one ornery pooch, smart, but ornery... some days I am at a loss with his games and how to handle some of his behaviors.

Ok, last story for the week... I was feeling a little under the weather on Sunday and was camped out on the couch... I had the Icy Hot out and I guess I knocked it over.  Stinky here, took off with it, only neither one of us knew he had it.  He went out to the dining room and neither one of us could figure out where he went or what he was doing, never a good sign.

Oh yeah, I am wet, but I am going to roll around in the grass...

When dinner was ready and he was not right there with his paw out... we knew he was doing something.  I called out dinner is ready, at first he did not come running as fast as I thought he may.  Finally he comes like ok, you are disturbing me and my fun, what do you have that I will be so interested in parents?  I had to run down the hallway to beat him to the dining room.  I looked under the table and low and behold, I found the Icy Hot I did not realize was missing until that moment...

When I came down the hallway with it in my hand, I saw the disappointment in his face... he knew he was had and he wasn't getting it back... he went off running like oh well, I can focus on dinner now...

As you can see, week after week, he keeps us moving and shaking... always up to something and never tires of making us chase him.  I love it, but then there are those days I ask him why can you not give me a break today?  Loving his stories?  Here you can find more peanut stories by clicking: Peanut's corner of the world, Peanut's spoiled ways, Peanut has been ornery, Peanut story time, and Peanut's bath time.
