Bathroom makeover before and after

Do you recall the duck wallpaper I mentioned before that was in our first floor bathroom?  I could not understand ducks with the rest of the bathroom fixtures.  The rest seemed slightly feminine to me and then there was the BOLD ducks, right in your face!

I actually liked the rest of the bathroom, minus the carpet of course. I also knew the ducks were going to fly the coop (I know usually a chicken reference, but ducks fly too...) 😉  I want to say we stripped the wallpaper in this bath the first day we owned it, but it may have been the second day.

I will show you this bath with it's not so great first foot forward.

I actually liked the tiles, I thought they may have been original, I do not have anything to support that thought though.  We purchased this home in an estate.

See the lovely carpet on the floor?  Yikes!  There is our built in to the left, I still love it to this day!

Before we did our little makeover on our built in.  Want to learn more about our built in, you can find a link here.

I wasn't exactly crazy about the shower doors, but I will tell you how I hide them.

In case you forgot what the ducks looked like, lol.

The tiles look blush to me.  My mother's home was built the same year and she has the same color in her bath, but the blush in her bath is the bathtub, sink, and toilet.

Down the hallway looking into the bathroom.

Always have my little helper with me... new rug came and we had to try it out.  I was hoping for more of a blush and gray feel.  It actually kind of looks taupe/brown to me.

As you can see, we only painted the vanity white and I changed out the knobs.  I would love to get a new sink and vanity top... it's on my to do list, but not a top priority.

See how I hid the shower doors?  I hung a regular shower curtain rod and purchased these sheers from TJ Maxx, they are my go to, especially for curtains.  You cannot beat the selection or price.  You can also see our makeover on the built in.

We pulled up the carpet, and installed Carrera marble floors, painted the vanity, changed out pulls, and I did some experimenting with painting the medicine cabinet frame.

When I painted the medicine cabinet frame, I used my trusty Rub-n-Buff again.  I used black, gold, and bronze.  I almost wanted it to look like it had a burnt wood look with the gold and bronze mixed in.  The lighting is not always the best, it depends on where you are standing in this bath.  Strange, I know, but true.

There is the kitchen cabinet we made over, a picture from our wedding on the wall, and above the window, I used bronze Rub-n-Buff on a medallion.

Other than paint and flooring (I had gray grout installed, I had asked for dark grout and you can see they listened so well), this bath did not really require a lot of changing up before we could move in.  I find white to be so calming surrounded by cool colors.

Thoughts on the changes to the bath?  If you are looking for marble floors, Floor & Decor has excellent prices, which is where both bathroom floors came from.  I did use oil based paint from Benjamin Moore on the built in and vanity.  All of the drawer pulls came from Hobby Lobby.  Mr. Vintage used 2 pulls from Hobby Lobby and made the ones on the built in.
